Our
world and everything on it is constantly being shifted around and
redistributed as things grow, die, decay, and are overgrown by
something else. Everything changes according to different
environmental conditions which define their progressive
composition. Plants grow, mountains slowly rise or erode away,
but so do civilisations, cultures, and species of man and beast
alike. They reflect not fixed states or closed systems, but works
in progress. Constantly diversifying, mutating, and reshaping
their forms based on what the envirnonment affords them.
I am interested in how procedural artmaking can be used to generate
diversity in systems like those found in nature. My painting and
photographic projects examine these differences of potentiality.
Doing so reminds me of just how varied the world is and makes me wonder
just how varied it could be.
